  • Avish Jagathpal (DR)

    Avish Jagathpal

    DR

    Dr Avish Jagathpal is a prosthodontist, in private practice in Menlyn, Pretoria, and is a teacher in both undergraduate and postgraduate prosthodontic programs at the University of Pretoria. His private practice is centred around complex restorative cases, including dental implantology, aesthetic dentistry, fixed and removable prosthodontics, and full mouth rehabilitations. He graduated as a general dentist from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2005, having taken multiple awards in recognition of his academic achievements. He was in general practice in Durban until 2013, and completed a diploma in Orthodontics during this time. He became a registrar in Prosthodontics in 2014 and went on to graduate as a Prosthodontist cum laude from the University of Pretoria in 2017. He has lectured on many national and international stages and is the director of the Pretoria ITI Study Club, is a reviewer for the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, is the President of the Prosthodontics Academy of South Africa and is the Education Officer for the ITI Southern Africa Section.

    Jennifer graduated BChD (Cum Laude) from the University of Pretoria in 2012 and then went on to complete a Post-Graduate Diploma in Aesthetic Dentistry at the University of the Western Cape in 2015. She thereafter qualified as a Prosthodontist in 2021, and also obtained a Fellowship of the College of Dentistry FCD(SA) degree in Prosthodontics from the College of Medicine South Africa.
    Jennifer works in private practice with Dr Christiaan Vorster in Somerset West, but also remains affiliated with the University of the Western Cape as a clinical supervisor to the post-graduate prosthodontic students. She serves as a member of the National Committee of the Academy of Prosthodontics South Africa (APSA), a member and speaker for the International Team for Implantology (ITI) and a member of the South African Dental Association (SADA).
    Jennifer enjoys the broad scope of treatment offered by a prosthodontic practice, however she does have a special interest in implantology and maxillofacial prosthodontics.

    Johann Lochner

    DR

    Dr Johann Lochner is a Specialist in Oral Medicine and Periodontics from Somerset West in the Western Cape, South Africa. He lives there with his wife Alet and two sons JC and Francois. He grew up in the Overberg, a rural part of South Africa, near Bredasdorp close to the Southernmost point of Africa.
    Dr Lochner graduated as a Dentist from the University of Stellenbosch in 1996. He worked in Private practice from 1996 to 2001 in Ramsgate and Margate in England. During that time, he studied Part Time and obtained the MFGDP (Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners for the UK) Diploma in 2000. He left private practice in 2001 and worked as a Senior House Officer at the Newcastle Upon Tyne Dental School and obtained the Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery from The Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2002 (MFDS RCS, England). During 2002 he returned to work in Private practice in Beckenham, Kent in the UK until he returned to South Africa in 2004. He specialized in Oral Medicine and Periodontics and obtained the MChD (Oral Medicine and Periodontics) in 2007 from the University of the Western Cape.
    He has lectured and published both internationally as well locally on Periodontal topics and the replacement of teeth with Dental Implants.
    Since 2007 he worked full time in Private Practice in Hout Bay, Belville and Somerset West near Cape Town. He was President of the South African Society for Periodontology for 2 terms, serving on the EXCO of the South African Society for Periodontology and Oral Medicine for over a decade, Vice President of the Cape
    Society of Dental Implantology (CSDI) and later the SAAO and serving on the EXCO for almost a decade. He is an ITI Fellow and served as study club co-director and director of the ITI Winelands study club.
    He is currently the President of the ITI for the Southern African section. He is in private practice limited to Oral Medicine, Periodontics and dental implant surgery and a senior consultant at the University of the Western Cape department of Oral Medicine and Periodontics involved with training of registrars in the field of dental implantology.
