Dr. George Babiolakis obtained his dental degree from Wits University in 2014. He went on to complete a master’s degree in Prosthodontics in 2019, along with a Postgraduate Diploma in Prosthodontics. His clinical interests include CAD/CAM technology, digital dentistry, and endodontics.
As a student, Dr. Babiolakis won the Colgate Undergraduate Competition at the International Association of Dental Research (IADR) for his study on the marginal and internal fit of crowns from two CAD/CAM systems. This achievement led him to represent South Africa at the IADR General Session in 2014 for the Hatton Award competition. More recently, he secured first place in the ITI Congress poster competition in 2022 for his poster on Straumann’s Smile in a Box implant system.
After six years in private practice, Dr. Babiolakis joined the University of Pretoria, where he is currently a final-year registrar in the Department of Prosthodontics. As part of his training, he completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Endodontics and has gained extensive experience managing complex endodontic cases. Throughout his registrarship, he has presented various seminars and journal discussions covering various aspects of prosthodontics and related disciplines. His clinical exposure includes working with cutting-edge technology, advanced materials, and modern dental equipment.
In addition to his academic contributions, Dr. Babiolakis has been invited to present in international online study groups, including Digidontics, where he presented a webinar on the potential application of AI in dental radiography.
