SADA & UCT Medical School: Hereditary bleeding disorders 18 May (WEB175)

Medical and research officer at the Division of Haematology, Groote Schuur Hospital. Working within a well establish multidisciplinary team. Focus is on HHT and promoting the access to care, awareness and creating a platform for patients and research in the field of HHT within South Africa.
Research in HHT:
Undergraduate thesis (SUN): Title: HHT - diagnosis, management, and prognosis in the low resource setting.
Presented Thesis as oral at the International CureHHT scientific conference in Croatia 2017.
Presented same work at the South African National ENT congress, CTICC Cape Town, 2017
Sub author on two HHT Poster presentations with Dr K Uys and Dr J Barnard at HHT conference 2017 and 2022 respectively. Current ongoing research and projects in HHT at UCT.

Dr. Nyangweso Orina is a Dental officer working at the Defence Forces Memorial Hospital, Nairobi, Kenya. She graduated from the University of Nairobi Dental School. She is passionate about clinical work, research, and all interactions that involve a link between the two. She has an interest in writing, in Special care in Dentistry, and in participating in forums which offer a voice to oral health promotion.
She is currently doing a six-week program at Groote Schuur Hospital, Hematology Department, on the holistic care of patients with inherited bleeding disorders.
